Taraba State Commissioner, Ministry of Health and Chairman Covid-19 technical committee, Dr. Innocent Vakkai has stated the readiness of the committee to stop the spread of Corona virus in the state.
The commissioner said this today in a briefing to reporters shortly after the Covid-19 technical committee meeting in Jalingo.
Dr.Vakkai remarked that the committee will be meeting on daily basis to discuss ways out as well as contribute ideas on how best to stop the spread of Corona virus in the state.
He revealed that the committee will equally work to ensure compliance on directives given by the Governor to stay at home, frequent Sensitisation campaign at grassroots, avoidance of public gathering of more than thirty persons amongst other.
He added that they are equally working with the Primary Health care Development Agency of the State to ensure securing of isolation centres across the sixteen local government areas.
Dr. Vakkai lauded the recent directive by the Governor to ban all inter- state travels as a good omen in taming the disease.
On the case of a patient in Serti, Gashaka local government, the commissioner refuted rumors that it is Covid- 19 related, saying the case is of malaria fever though samples have been taken to Abuja for further testing.
Dr. Innocent Vakkai assured tarabans that there is no cause for alarm in Taraba State as efforts are on track to stop the spread of the Corona virus.
The Chairman Covid-19 technical committee has solicited for maximum support from the public to ensure the state is safe from the disease stating the committee will not condone any act that will contravene it’s duties in this critical time.
