Secretary to the State Government Taraba, Hon. Anthony Jellason has condemned recent Press briefing by a Catholic Priest blaming Governor Darius Ishaku for not doing enough to end the Jukun and Tiv crisis.
Anthony Jellason made the condemnation in an interview with Government House Correspondents yesterday in Jalingo.
He described the situation as damaging the stance of the Catholic Priest to discredit the peace efforts of Governor Darius Ishaku saying there is no time that the State Government was insensitive to the plight of the people.
Jellason revealed that Governor Darius Ishaku has spent huge amounts of money to cater for those in internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp which is going to be a continuous process until peace is restored in the crisis affected areas.
Jellason appealed to people of the State to give useful information to security operatives to wade criminal elements.
Also commenting, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Isaiah Magaji Jirapye described as unfortunate the position of Catholic Priest of Jalingo Diocese blaming CAN for not doing enough on the Jukun and Tiv crisis.
Jirapye, averred that accusations and counter accusations on various media platforms cannot bring peace hence the need for members of CAN to be mindful of what they say.
He assured Tarabans of the position of CAN to always preach peace since they don’t control security operatives advising Tivs and Jukuns to tolerate one another.
