Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Mr. David Nya has commended Governor Darius Ishaku for employing new staff for the State Radio and Television Taraba.
The Chairman made the commendation today during a visit to Media Aides of Governor Darius Ishaku at the Government House Jalingo.
He said the NUJ are direct beneficiaries of the gesture in view of the shortage of Man Power over the years.
Nya, promised to strive at training and retraining of journalists in the state to be better equipped in line with the present day realities.
The Chairman assured them of the resolve of the new NUJ executives to promote developmental journalism.
Responding, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bala Dan Abu described election as a game that will produce a winner and a loser. He thanked NUJ Members for exhibiting maturity during the last weekend State Congress as no case of rigging was recorded and asked all members to work together to promote unity.
Abu disclosed that Governor Darius Ishaku has been supporting journalist in the State hence the need for them to be more professional in their reportage mostly on issues that concerns security and peace.
Commenting, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Illiya Bekyu Akweh advised the new executives of the NUJ to work as a team to succeed and urged them to see their election as a rare privilege to work for the progress of the Union.
On his part, Special Adviser to the Governor on New Media Osborne Adi encouraged the executives to put aside any grievances during the last election and remain focused for the progress of the NUJ.
