Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba (HAFT) today kick-started the distribution of modernised cooking stoves and gas cylinders from the Federal Ministry of environment to representatives of various groups, communities and constituencies of the state at the hall of the foundation, Jalingo.
Speaking, CEO of HAFT and wife to Taraba Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku said her foundation is proud to associate with the Federal Ministry of Environment through the State Ministry of Environment in the provision of the cooking appliances to various end users of the state. She noted that the use of firewood by the cutting down of trees has adverse effects on users and the degrading climate change to the world at large.
Wife of the Governor urged all donor agencies to key into the reforms of what the government is achieving with improving on the lives of the people. She lauded the efforts of the Local Government of Jalingo for being one of her biggest partners and stated that the new cooking initiative will greatly assist the rural dwellers against the orthodox style of cooking.
Anna listed some beneficiary partners which her foundation has worked with in the past and capable in the distribution of the cooking appliances to the grassroots dwellers to include former PDP State Chairman; Victor Bala Kona, House of Assembly members, Secretary to the State Government, CSDP, Prison service, Special Schools Ndola and others.
Earlier, Commissioner for Environment, Alh. Lawal Ibrahim appreciated the Governor for provision of funds for the mobilisation from Abuja to Jalingo and also applauded HAFT for availing services to women especially who are the major end users of such an initiative.
He said this new source of energy will reduce over dependence on firewood which has posed both a health and climate change impact.
Presentation of the cooking appliances was carried out by Her Excellency to a few partners amongst which is Precious Kids International (School of the Handicapped), mayo gwoi Jalingo.
